MCTV's Dish It Out Goes National

MCTV's Dish It Out, an instructional cooking program directed and edited by MCCC television students, caught the eye of Producer Lisa Jackson at Films Media Group this past fall. After meeting with officials, a plan was proposed for Dish It Out and its student staff to write, produce, and direct an instructional video on the topic of food presentation.

Jennifer Joyce, a 2006 graduate of MCCC's Television Program, was brought back as the freelance Director of the project along with camera operator Chris Curto, a 2006 MCCC graduate and now current Rowan University student. The production staff also included the regular student crew of Dish It Out: Kyle Lutz, Patrick Martin and Jackie Seitz along with the help of MCTV Programming Director and faculty member Steve Voorhees. The program was hosted by HRIM Coordinator Doug Fee and teaching assistant Frank Benowitz.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for some of our dedicated students to get their foot in the door and network with professionals", stated Voorhees. "Some of the benefits for students working on a project like this include gaining a professional credit, earning future recommendations from Films Media Group and of course, monetary compensation."

Based in Lawrenceville, NJ , Films Media Group has been one of North America's valued sources of educational videos, multimedia, and print products for over fifty years. The company's collection of programs includes more than 12,000 titles from some of the worlds most prominent producers.

After an all day production shoot on December 19, the final video, The Art of Food Presentation, is due to be completed by mid-January. Upon approval of the final cut, the project is to be distributed by Films Media Group nation wide to high schools for classroom instruction.

Student programming began on MCTV in October of 2004 and has the capacity to reach 88,000 households in and around Mercer County broadcasting on Comcast, Cablevision, and Patriot Cable channel 26.
