CN8 Donates News Set to MCTV
CN8 Philadelphia, the local Comcast flagship, generously donated their news set and desk to MCTV this summer. The set, only two years old, will now serve as the backdrop to MCN Live News and Alvyn Haywood's show, What Might Happen?.
MCN Live also welcomes the addition of a brand new news desk. "This is an unbelievable donation from CN8 and something we are very grateful to have", stated Mercer faculty member and MCTV Director of Programming, Steve Voorhees. "Each year we have grown a little bit at a time trying to improve our studio sets, however this gift has really boosted us into a professional atmosphere. It's very rewarding to be recognized by the industry in this fashion. They obviously feel we were deserving of this and we can't thank them enough."
Student programming began on MCTV in October of 2004 with MCN Live News broadcasting once a week. It has since expanded to two weekly live news broadcasts and also developed several new original series and live sports. The station has the capacity to reach 88,000 households in and around Mercer County broadcasting on Comcast and Cablevision channel 26.
